Located in the heart of East Hollywood, Grant has proudly served generations of families since 1904. Today, our historic school is a vibrant multicultural community where more than 20 languages are represented and diversity is celebrated as one of our greatest strengths.
Strong Academics & High Expectations
At Grant, we believe all students are capable of achieving at high levels. Our teachers provide standards-aligned instruction using LAUSD’s core instructional programs, including CKLA for English Language Arts, Illustrative Mathematics, and Amplify Science. Students are encouraged to think critically, communicate their ideas, solve complex problems, write across content areas, collaborate, and take ownership of their learning.
Teachers use assessment data to monitor student progress and provide differentiated instruction, targeted intervention, and enrichment so that students receive the support or challenge they need to grow.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
We believe some of the most memorable learning happens through experience. Field trips are an important part of the Grant educational experience, providing students with opportunities to connect classroom learning to the world around them.
Throughout their years at Grant, students have opportunities to experience museums, cultural institutions, science and nature experiences, performances, college and community experiences, and other destinations throughout Los Angeles and beyond.
Arts, Science & Enrichment
A well-rounded education extends beyond reading and mathematics. Grant students have opportunities to engage in visual and performing arts, hands-on science, STEAM experiences, enrichment activities, assemblies, special events, and extracurricular opportunities that allow them to explore their interests and discover new talents.
Support for the Whole Child
Every child arrives at school with different strengths and needs. Grant provides a comprehensive system of academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and specialized supports.
Our programs and services include academic intervention and tutoring, English Learner supports, Special Education services, social-emotional learning, positive behavior supports, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
As a school-wide PBIS community, we explicitly teach and reinforce positive expectations while helping students develop responsibility, citizenship, self-awareness, and the skills necessary to become successful members of their communities.
A Diverse & Inclusive Community
Our students and families represent cultures and languages from around the world. We want children to see themselves reflected in their school while also learning about people whose backgrounds and experiences may differ from their own.

Families Are Our Partners
Families are essential partners in student success. We provide numerous opportunities for parents and caregivers to learn, participate, and have a voice in our school.
Families can become involved through parent workshops, Coffee with the Principal, volunteering, school events, School Site Council (SSC), English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), Local School Leadership Council (LSLC), family learning events, and other community activities.
