Library
Welcome to Grant Elementary Library! Our library contains over 9,000 books. We have a computerized circulation system called Destiny. Patrons can access the online catalog from any internet-connected computer to search for books in our library. One of our goals is to expose students to an authentic library experience. Students understand that they can go to the public library and find books about animals, for example, in the same Dewey classification.
We are open every other week from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Classes come during their scheduled time for 30 minutes. Students also visit independently on an as needed basis to check out additional books. We love to read and invite you to visit and support the library!
At Grant ES we use the Accelerated Reader program. This reading program encourages students to choose books at their individual reading level, set goals and progress from there. Increased comprehension and motivation to read are some of the benefits. After reading a book, students take a computer quiz to test vocabulary, understanding and higher literacy skills. Teachers can also monitor student progress. To see if a book is included in the AR program, or to check its reading level and point value, visit www.ARbookfind.com.
