DIGITAL LEARNING AND CITIZENSHIP

Grant teachers are integrating digital citizenship lessons and activities from the Common Sense Education Scope and Sequence into their curriculum.

Students are learning how to:

  • Cultivate and manage their digital identity and reputation.
  • Engage in positive, safe, legal and ethical behavior when using technology.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and respect for the rights and obligations of using and sharing intellectual property.
  • Manage their personal data to maintain digital privacy and security.

To further support students, Grant teachers and staff have taken a whole-community approach to teaching digital citizenship to students and families. The Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) and Computational Thinking (CT) Team make it a priority that all students receive digital citizenship lessons. They have identified target areas and lessons for development and reinforcement that will be implemented during the year for Parent workshops, student assemblies and professional development. Grant has become a Digital Citizenship Certified School during the 2017-18 Academic Year and our goal is to continue to guide students toward becoming model citizens online and in their local communities.
